Rising Strong Counseling Welcomes You

Rising Strong Counseling seeks to provide a place of support, compassion, and opportunity for change and growth. To truly be able to heal and overcome expected and unexpected life challenges, one has to understand where they've been, where they are, and where they want to go. This is done through acceptance and validation by a trusting person who you can ensure is working in your best interests. It is my hope that given the opportunity to work with you, we can find the key for you to recover, move forward and rise stronger than you never knew existed.

About Me

My name is Jessica Roosevelt, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and owner of Rising Strong Counseling. I have over 10 years of experience providing direct services to individuals and families struggling with emotional, behavioral, and psychiatric problems. I am dually licensed in Illinois and Indiana. I earned my Bachelors Degree in 2012 and after taking 4 years off to gain practical experience, I went on to earn my Masters in Social Work at the University of Southern Indiana in 2018.

Since I entered the social work field in 2012, I have had the opportunity to work clinically with children, adolescents, teens, adults, families, and couples. I have provided a number of specialized therapeutic services to those dealing with challenging life experiences. Patient well-being is my number one priority, and I go above and beyond to help them through all their obstacles.

In my spare time, you can usually find me spending time with my husband, 3 year old son, 13 year old "bonus" son,  and 16 year old "bonus" daughter. They are the center of my world! One of the greatest challenges in life is being a parent/"bonus" parent, but also one of the best parts of my life. In between the craziness of our families schedule, I enjoy being outside, trying new restaurants, watching the kiddos in their extracurricular activities, and binge-watching anything on BRAVO TV : )

Individual Therapy

My treatment approach is client centered so that it is tailored to your style of learning and meeting your needs. I can offer you directive and compassionate guidance, in order to get to the bottom of key issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, anger and addictions. Additionally, I can help you develop skills for resolving conflicts with others and developing new ways to cope with overwhelming emotions.

Family Therapy

Many approaches to family counseling stem from family systems theory. This suggests that families work in systems, rather than groups of people who function independently of each other. According to family systems theory, changes in one family member will influence changes in other parts of the family. Therapist works with the client and families to control their thought processes and their behaviors to help shed light on the roles assigned to each member of the family unit. Once roles are established it is easier to see how each member interacts with the family dynamic.

Couples Therapy

Have you lost that loving feeling? Are you struggling to connect with your partner? Intimate relationships are a complex dynamic that can have ebbs and flows, ups and downs. Couples therapy is a type of psychotherapy that helps people in a romantic relationship build insight and resolve conflict within the relationship. Couples therapy looks at the relationship as a system rather than one individual person. The target of change is the relationship and not one person although we acknowledge that someone's behavior could be problematic. The therapist will try to understand the baseline functioning of a partnership and analyze interactions, reactions and patterns within a relationship.

Child/Adolescent Therapy

As parents we tend to care more about the lives of our children than our own.  Regardless of whether they are children we’ve birthed or children we’ve promised to rebirth, their happiness is ours.  We want to shelter them from pain and ensure they experience joy despite any hardships endured.  Sometimes children need treatment and therefore, parents seek appropriate help. I work in conjunction with parents to help children live to their fullest potential.

Teletherapy

Not only is online therapy convenient, but it is effective. I’m experienced in providing therapy sessions via videoconferencing or phone. Online therapy is a great option if you can’t get to my office due to your busy schedule or if you prefer meeting virtually. It’s possible to mix in person therapy with online therapy. Online therapy is conducted through a HIPAA secured online video chat platform. I facilitate an online therapy session as if we were having an in-person session.
